Snowy Walk with the Dogs

It is snowy up here in Lenox, MA. We took the dogs to Tangelwood grounds for a run... Xander looked goofy and Dakota just wanted her ball. My dad has a super great camera so he got some good shots.

New Smoothie

This morning I wanted the benefits of pumpkin. I was going to mix some organic pumpkin puree in my yogurt... but alas I was out of Fage. So I decided to experiment... I put agave, 1/2 a can of pumpkin, some skim milk (soy would have been WAY better... would have made the smoothie creamy), a handful of walnuts, a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice and three ice cubes... blend and enjoy. It does taste a bit like pie.... as I said before, soy milk would have made this smoothie MUCH better.

Peas Please

I am totally enjoy this cold Sunday. For lunch I had pea shoots, micro spring greens, a whole red pepper, shredded carrot, miso ginger dressing all topped with chia seeds. Then for an early dinner I had two rolls with a mug of pea soup.

"Blizzard" of 2009

The "Blizzard of 09" did not live up to my expectations. They predicted about 18 inches... we only got around 10-12 inches. BOO. In the morning we took the dogs to our buildings courtyard so they could run free in the snow. Xander gets pretty cold so we tried to tie a scarf around his neck. Dakota has a little sweater. We threw some snowballs for the dogs to catch... which is always amusing. Then we went to Joe for coffee. And now I am warming up, wrapped in my cashmere robe and wearing cashmere lounge pants my mom bought me for the holidays.

I am gonna lounge around for a few hours and then head out for a little fresh air later. More soon. Enjoy the snow.

T Minus 3

Pictures from the fish study... see the dissection pictures!

The Hudson River model my 2nd graders are building...

Three days until break. Yeah! This morning I needed all the help I could get. I had a latte and a Synergy. For lunch I had two things because I was super hungry. I had a carrot salad (with orange, yellow and purple carrots) and green beans with hummus.

I am gonna end this post early because I am tired. I JUST finished my last academic graduate school class. Now that doesn't mean I am done. I still have my field work and I need to take one science class at the Natural History Museum. So I am gonna grab a cold beer and relax until I fall asleep. Goodnight.

Monday Morning- T minus 5 days

5 days until winter vacation! I can't wait.

Quick post... for breakfast this morning I had Fage 0% with agave, poms, chia seeds, and walnuts. I will probably have this every day this week.

RAIN

It is a yucky rainy New York day. I am secretly super happy it rained today... that way I don't need to feel guilty about not leaving my apartment and doing all my grad school work. I have only until Tuesday to finish a HUGE project! The light at the end of the tunnel is that AFTER Tuesday I will be done with school work... that is until Monday when I continue working on my thesis.

I had a fabulous hot 2% latte this morning from Joe. Then I headed home to work. For lunch I had an interesting mix... shredded carrots, pomegranates, and miso ginger dressing. It was great... the poms added an element of surprise in my simple salad.

I made a mug of hot coco this afternoon... but I forgot to photograph it. Just close your eyes and imagine this. A simple white mug, inside the mug is steaming hot peppermint hot chocolate. There are little bits of chocolate floating at the top. From the first sip to the last, it warmed my insides.

I am heading out in the rain to walk the doggies. Hopefully they won't be bratty about the water. I wonder... are my dogs the only dogs that are 50lbs or more that won't go to the bathroom in the rain? Humm.....

Happy Sunday

I hate the Sunday Blue's. I have about two weeks until my semester of graduate school is over AND I get two weeks off of work for winter break. I can't wait. Until then I will be stressing. I have been drinking Synergy's (Raspberry and Grape flavors), eating lots of salads with shredded carrots (orange and purple), drinking coconut water, and trying to stay away from sweet things and carbs.

When this semester is done I need to totally revamp my routines... food, workout, etc. I need some balance in my life.

So positive things about the past two days...
1) I discovered Pumpkin Spice soy milk, simply amazing taste especially when making oatmeal
2) Wolfgang and Dakota sleeping together on the couch (which I keep covered with an old sheet... maybe time to buy a slip cover so the couch doesn't get ruined by the animals)
3) I CAN be productive when I put my mind to it
4) My co-worker introduced me to the 100 push-up challenge... which I am starting tomorrow
5) IT SNOWED IN NYC on Saturday!

For My Own Amusement...
I can't believe that they made a Snuggie for dogs... I wonder if I should get one for Xander. He hates to be cold... he will try to burrow himself under any blanket... how can a 90lb dog be such a baby.

The dog below is not my dog... just a picture of a dog in a Snuggie!

It is Friday!

I have been sick all week. Ever been sick and forget what it feels like to be well? I can't remember what feeling good is like. Last night for dinner I made paninis. Mozzarella, tomato, balsamic, and basil (from my own little windowsill garden). It was pretty good. Although I haven't really been eating that much bread recently (refined flour). I have been replacing pasta with brown rice and eating way more fruits and veggies, just like I normally do over the summer months.

Off to work. More later.

Home Sick

I hate being sick. I am wondering if I am sick because of stress... just a thought. I went to get tea this morning and stopped by the Farmers Market and picked up 2 purple carrots, 1 orange carrot, mixed greens and bean sprouts, and tomatoes. I also trimmed my herb plants.

Thanksgiving Weekend Update

Well it was a wonderful quiet weekend up in the Berkshires. I did a fair amount of grad school work, I plan on graduating in May! Yeah! We did the usual... lay around, drink lattes from Lenox Coffee House, eat pizza, and walk around with the dogs.

Here are some visuals.
