Pixie Tangerines and Red Tailed Hawks

What a day! I started my morning off right... with a bowl of steel cut oats, maple syrup, pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pie spices and a iced latte (of course). One of my students gave me a Pixie Tangerine... it was TINY. It was about one inch in diameter. Apparently they are only in season for one month... unfortunately that month is now over. For a mid-morning and afternoon snack I munched on some carrot chips.

For recess my students played on the schools roof top play area. I was enjoying the fresh air and sun when what do I see... THREE RED-TAILED HAWKS flying by. I was so excited and I got most of the children to watch them for a few minutes. They flew north and we watched them fly high and circle around. I think I was more excited then the kids!

60 Minute The Ride

It has been a long and busy weekend. Last night I went to a friends National Pie Day party. There were pies galore... meat pies, pizza pies, chicken pot pies, and dessert pies. It was amazing.

Today I started my morning off with a latte and a piece of banana chocolate bread. Then I did some work and went off to meet a co-worker to do some MORE work. At 4 I booked it back downtown to take a 60 minute The Ride class. I haven't been in two weeks because I was sick. It was exhausting! But great. For dinner I had an apple, some dried cherries and a bowl of marinara sause with red and white quinoa, brown rice and parm. Delish.

Run Semi-Free Dakota

Well I am up in the Berkshires for the long weekend. We went to Tanglewood with the dogs so they could run in the big fields. Since Dakota is a "run-away-er" we kept a long leash on her. Look at her run! Monty even tried to catch her... he couldn't.

A (Practice) Concert to Remember

Today my 7/8's class practiced for their big performance, "Winterfest," taking place tonight. We ate an early lunch at 10:30, which I called brunch, and then we walked the 16 long blocks to Symphony Space. The children were on stage for about 2 hours. They sang their little hearts out, it was so much fun to watch. After the practice we walked back to school. After the children left for the day my co-worker, Wendy, ran downstairs and bought a snack. She got "Sweet Potato" chips... and they were very satisfying. Definitely a snack to but again.

I am sure tomorrow my students will come to school groggy and grumpy.

Lunch... diced celery, quinoa, chia seeds, and ginger miso dressing...

The kids singing!

Very yummy Sweet Potato chips.... much needed after a long day...

Chia Power

Last night I made a HUGE batch of ratatouille. So that means I will be eating it most of this week! To make my ratatouille meals more nutritious I plan to add brown rice, chia seeds and quinoa to most if not all of my meals. Yeah protein power! Last night for dinner I had a small plate of ratatouille with a little bit of 0% Fage on the side. And for breakfast this morning... can you guess? Yes! Scrambled eggs with ratatouille and chia seeds... and half a cinnamon bagel with tofu scallion cream cheese. And a 2% latte from Joe's transferred into one of my fabulous Bodem mugs. Great way to start the morning.

Quick Lunch

Quick post about lunch...

My salad contained red radish sprouts, pea sprouts, mung bean sprouts, diced celery, shredded carrot, chia seeds, and miso ginger dressing with a side of cute dogs.

Freezing Farmers Market

It is freezing in NYC today! About half of the vendors were at the Farmers Market today... I guess the cold kept them away. I bought the usual... peppers, zucchini, carrots, pea and red radish shoots, mung bean sprouts, flat leaf parsley... and a few other things not pictured. Tonight I plan to stay in because I am still getting over a cold and I am going to make ratatouille.
